A new passage from the upcoming memoir by Matthew Perry reveals a sort of bitterness towards fellow actor Keanu Reeves.
In the passage, Perry says: “Why is it that the original thinkers like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger die, but Keanu Reeves still walks among us?”
OUCH! Several outlets have reached out for clarity on the comment, but there is no context given.
Keanu has said River Phoenix was ‘one of my closest friends of the era’ and Perry was friends with River after the two starred in 1988’s A Night In The Life Of Jimmy Reardon.
There aren’t any obvious connections between River and Perry or Heath and Perry, but the actor must have some reason to make such a harsh statement about Keanu. Especially given Keanu is known for being extremely kind and gracious on set and with all crew. Even buying them all gifts after filming.
And that’s not the only reference to Keanu he makes in the book. When writing about learning that Chris Farley had died of a drug overdose in 1997 he writes, “I punched a hole through Jennifer Aniston’s dressing room wall when I found out,” he writes. “Keanu Reeves walks among us.”
This should be interesting…. Developing
