For those unfamiliar with Salman Rushdie, he is a writer best know for his 1988 work, The Satanic Verses. A book so controversial that the Supreme Leader of Iran put a Fatwa on his head.
His life has since always been a sort of haze of controversy and that’s likely what lead to a lunatic storming the stage at one of his speakings and stabbing him several times in the neck and stomach.
On Sunday, his ex-wife, Padma Lakshmi, took to twitter to show her support in a very brief statement.
Relieved @SalmanRushdie is pulling through after Friday’s nightmare. Worried and wordless, can finally exhale. Now hoping for swift healing.

The Top Chef host, 51, wed Rushdie in 2004 after five years of dating, though the marriage ended in divorce in 2007.
Following a statement from Rushdie’s son, Zafar Rushdie, that the 75-year-old novelist “remains in critical condition” but has been taken off a ventilator and is displaying “his usual feisty and defiant sense of humor,” Lakshmi has expressed her relief at the apparent improvement in her ex-husband’s health.
We wish him the best as well.
