When I heard about the Kanye/Gap/Balenciaga collab I instantly bought Gap stock. Will that pay off? Not so far. Of course that hasn’t stopped stores and online from selling out everywhere.
You can only get the clothes at the special Yeezy Gap site, but it’s a all sold out. And honestly, it’s a mess. The $240 sweatshirts look like you found them in your basement and the jean jacket is a clone of the one Kanye wheres all over town. But have at it. Make my stock rise.
I think what bothers me most about it is there isn’t a hint of Balenciaga in this and that was what was exciting about the idea of the collection.
“The first eight styles reflect timeless silhouettes translated through the lens of Ye and Demna’s (Balenciaga creative director) shared vision of utilitarian design,” the press release states, adding that the designs “pay tribute to Gap’s timeless American icons rendered anew in wash, hue and silhouette.”
