In the world of comic book collections, 1938’s Action Comics No. 1 is considered the holy grail. The book introduces Superman to the world for the very first time. Which in turn started the entire genre of superheros.
The copy is called ‘the rocket copy’ because of the rocket stamp on the upper right hand that was put there by the 13 year old who bought the book way back in 1938.
Thursday’s Rocket Copy sale for $13,180,000 is the fourth largest price paid for a comicbook. Amazing Fantasy No. 15, the first appearance of Spider-Man, that sold for $3.6 million in September 2021, and two other copies of Action Comics No. 1.
