Kate Winslet and Leo Dicaprio met in 1996 when they were shooting the blockbuster film Titanic. They were both in their early 20’s and the first scene the shot together was of Leo painting a naked Winslet. This hyper accelerated their familiarity with one another and Kate admits they’re now “bonded for life”.
Like many of us, the two friends haven’t been able to see one another over the last few years and they finally met up in Los Angeles recently and Kate says it was very emotional.
Kate told The Guardian of that moment: “I couldn’t stop crying. I’ve known him for half of my life. It’s not as if I’ve found myself in New York or he’s been in London and there’s been a chance to have dinner or grab a coffee and have a catch-up.”
She added: “We haven’t been able to leave our countries. Like so many friendships globally, we’ve missed each other because of COVID. He’s my friend, my really close friend. We’re bonded for life.”
