You might ask “who is Peter Max,” but no matter what your age, you’ve likely seen his work. He’s an artist who was so huge in the 80’s that his art was everywhere.
Celebrities were honored to be painted by him, much the way they were when Andy Warhol painted them. (but ok, not THAT big)
Now we’re learning Peter Max is being held, for years, under a similar conservatorship as Britney Spears just successfully canceled.
His daughter, Libra, says he is held like a prisoner in his New York City apartment and is only allowed visitors for an hour a day and only when cleared by his gaurdians.
Now the man who helped free Britney is stepping in. Litigator Mathew Rosengart has joined the team fighting to free Peter.
“I am honored to join the team’s laudable efforts to seek justice for Peter Max,” Rosengart said in a statement. “This typifies the type of guardianship that merits judicial attention and potential state and federal legislation.” The lawyer, referred to by Spears’ fans as ‘Rosen-god,’ will continue his work on the star’s case as she fights her father and the former manager of her estate.
