I’m a female from the US with zero interest in sports and even I know the hell out of Pelé. He’s a legend. So I was sad to hear the 81 year old had been hospitalized for surgery to remove a lesion in his colon in September.
Pelé took to instagram this week to update his fans about his recovery.
He wrote, “I suggest you start to catch your breath to celebrate with me, because with each passing day I get closer to score a goal.”

Reuters reports that Pelé is also undergoing chemotherapy as part of his recovery.
Back on September 30th he took to instagram to thank his team of doctors of Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
“When the path is difficult, celebrate each step of the journey. Focus on your happiness. It’s true that I can’t jump anymore, but these past few days, I’ve been punching the air more times than usual. I am so happy to be back at home. I want to thank the entire Albert Einstein Hospital team, who made my stay a pleasant one, with a humane and very affectionate welcome. Thanks also to all of you, who from afar, make my life complete with so many messages of love.”
