Mae Whitman has been acting in Hollywood since her 1994 debut in “When a Man Loves a Woman”. These days she’s starring in her own show, “Good Girls” and voices Amity, the lesbian witch on The Owl House.
And this week she’s proudly declaring herself pansexual. Which is to say she’s attracted to all people, regardless of gender or sexual orientation. Or as I like to call it, the future.
I shouldn’t even say she declared it. She was simply proclaiming her pride in voicing a character like Amity and felt it relevant to share some personal details that make her especially attached to the character.
“Just taking a moment to say I am SO proud to be even a small part of a show like The Owl House,” she tweeted. “Being pansexual myself, I wish I had such incredible characters like Amity and Luz in my life when I was growing up. Queer representation is sososo important :,) keep it up world!”
“I know ppl might be unfamiliar with what pansexual means; for me it means I know I can fall in love with people of all genders,” she followed up in another tweet, also linking to GLAAD’s website about the bi+ community and the Bisexual Resource Center. “This is the word that fits me best and I’m proud+happy to be part of the Bi+ community :,)”
