Real life drama merged with tv drama in the most horrible and fortunate way this week in Florida.
If you hadn’t heard the amazing story, an 11 year old girl was waiting for her bus Tuesday morning when a man jumped from a van and ran at her with a knife.
The girl, Alyssa Bonal, said the man grabbed her by the throat and lifted her from the ground. She managed to trip the scum bag and slip away, but not before making sure she left evidence behind.
Fast thinking Alyssa remembered the many episodes of Law & Order she has seen and knew she had to leave trace evidence. And in her hand was some homemade blue slim she had been playing with.
Her mother, Amber, told reporters, “She said, ‘Mom, I had to leave some sort of evidence behind, like on ‘Law & Order: SVU.’ We’ve watched probably every episode on Hulu. She’s a smart cookie, she thinks on her toes. She got that slime everywhere.”
A nearby surveillance camera gave police the license plate of the man, but when police showed up, it was the blue slim all over his arm and clothes that sealed it for police.
After hearing about the amazing 11 year old, SVU’s Mariska Hargitay took to Instagram to express her admiration.
“Alyssa, first and most important, I am so relieved and grateful to know that you are safe,” Hargitay, 57, wrote next to a screenshot of the “Today” show’s coverage of the tale.
“And I am so honored to be part of your incredible story. You are one BRAVE, Strong and Smart young woman. I think the SVU squad might have to add slime to their crimefighting gear! Take good care of yourself and each other. With all my love, your number one fan, Mariska.”
According to the Pensacola News Journal, Jared Paul Stanga was charged with attempted kidnapping, aggravated assault and battery.
