It’s always fun when you learn elite athletes are buddies out in the real world. That was a surprise for me, when I learned that Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy were bros.
31 year old Rory was on Jimmy Fallon this week and he says he’s spoken to his good friend and he’s making progress.
“He’s doing better. I think all the guys have reached out to him and hopefully if things go well over the next week or so he might be able to get home and start to recover at home, which would be great for him, see his kids, see his family.
McIlroy was among the players who Woods thanked for the “touching” gesture of wearing his signature red and black for the final round of the recent WGC Championship, five days after the 45-year-old’s accident.
But Rory said Tiger still has no problem calling Rory on a trash round of the Arnold Palmer International.
“He texted me some words of encouragement before the final round of Bay Hill on Sunday and things didn’t quite go to plan and he was the first one to text me and be like ‘What’s going on here?'” McIlroy smiled.
“So even from the hospital bed, he’s still giving me some heat!”
