So you want to start collecting Hollywood memorabilia and you don’t know where to begin. I’ve got you covered.
Just last week a load of Monroe dresses from her most iconic roles were sold at an auction and prove the desire for the blonde beauty hasn’t wained. Bringing in more than $800,000! So ok, you missed that auction. On to the next one.
Coming to auction house Kestenbaum & Co. on Nov. 7 in New York… Marilyn menorah!
Here’s the story. Marilyn converted to Judaism back when she married playwright, Arthur Miller. The menorah was then a gift from his parents to say thank you for embracing their religion. The brass-plated candelabra has a wind-up mechanism at its base that plays Israel’s national anthem.
The two divorced in 1961 (a year before her death) and the menorah went to storage. Who pulled it out is not know. Not to me anyway.
Estimates for the sale of the item is between $100 – $150,000. Btw, this auction is not one of Hollywood items, but rather Judaica. Happy bidding!
