John Mulaney is, to me, best known for sending back tuna sandwiches, but most people know his work as a prolific comedy writer and stand up comedian. Now he’s the property of Apple TV for a new series for the streamer.
John will play writer Henry David Thoreau in “Dickinson”, a dark coming-of-age comedy starring Hailee Steinfeld as famed poet Emily Dickinson in her early, rebellious years.
Jane Krakowski, (Exec producer) made the announcement Saturday night at the Tribeca TV Festival, where “Dickinson” was the centerpiece. Zosia Mamet will also guest star as Louisa May Alcott.
But here’s the rub. There’s nothing nowhere that says Emily and Henry David having known each other. Maybe they’ll meet at Walden Pond?
Historical fiction is more popular than ever, but then I always end up having all these messed up “facts” about history and look like a jack ass when I spew it at parties. So keep your frame of mind right while watching it. I will totally be checking it out though.
