Say what you want about Matthew McConaughey’s laid back demeanor, he ain’t no dummy. Not only did Matty graduate from the University of Texas with a degree in film, he’s been teaching as a visiting instructor there since 2015.
Now the U of T course he helped mold and bring about is up and running and Matt has been appointed a professor of practice of the Script to Screen film production class.
“It’s the class I wish I would have had when I was in film school. Working in the classroom with these students gives me a chance to prepare them,” said McConaughey, who graduated from UT with a film degree in 1993.
“Making movies, turning words on paper into film, is both a science and art — no matter the time or generation. The elements of truth and genuine joy for the process are timeless. That will always be our classroom focus.”
The class this fall will study the star’s 2012 crime drama “Mud” and his upcoming movie “The Gentlemen.”
