The sorted affair between President Bill Clinton and White House intern Monica Lewinsky, is about to get the same “American Crime Story” treatment that befell Andrew Cunanan and OJ Simpson in previous seasons. In more ways than one.
Hashing out one of the most scandalous events to hit the White House demands top performers and FX has called in a few. Starting with Lewinsky herself, who will serve as a producer on the series titled “Impeachment: American Crime Story”.
And likely due to her success as Marcia Clark on the OJ Simpson series, (she won an Emmy), Sarah Paulson will play Lewinsky’s confidante Linda Tripp, who infamously recorded their phone conversations about the Clinton affair without Lewinsky’s knowledge.
Impeachment will be written by playwright Sarah Burgess, based on Jeffrey Toobin’s 1999 bestseller A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Story of the Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President.
FX has scheduled Impeachment to debut on Sept. 27, 2020.
