If you’re not familiar with the site Reddit.com, you are like new to the internet. The site boast and deserves the tag line “front page of the internet” for a reason. Millions of users from all over the world post memes, personal stories, creations, you name it. And those not posting are devouring, verifying and voting on the information. This is one of those posts.
I’ll let the users words speak for themselves.
My grandma was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last month. Her idol, Alex Trebek, was also recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I wrote to Mr. Trebek asking for some words of encouragement and well wishes. To my complete surprise — he responded! Thank you for taking the time, Mr. Trebek!
In case you can make out Alex’s kind words, “Karen, let’s you and I decide that we both are going to be cancer survivors. Stay positive. All the best! Alex Trebek”.
Now lets just start with the fact that 36 years into the business, Alex Trebek is still answering his fan mail. Second, he genuinely took a moment to personalize his message with a note of encouragement. It’s really the Alex I’d always hoped he’d be, you know?
And it was only this week that Alex announced some of his own tumors were shrinking with treatment, so he may just be the majestic you want in your corner.
We wish both Alex and Karen the best as well and look forward to many more years of Jeopardy.
