Robin Williams and his wife Marsha amassed a large collection of things during their 21 year marriage from 1989 – 2010. Incidentally, Marsha was not his wife in 2014 when Robin took his own life.
Now Sotheby’s is hosting a huge auction of some of their most prized items. The catalog is over 300 items and worth a look because it’s just really interesting items. I’ve curated a few of my favorite to share.
Shepard Fairey is the one time street artist best known for his OBEY art and the famous Obama campaign poster. I think this will fetch well over est.
I need this Monkey chair in my life immediately. Though I think I’d never feel comfortable sitting back in it. God help whoever breaks those tails off.
Art has always been in the eye of the beholder, but something about Robin purchasing 20 creepy human statues for his yard feels like a real glimpse into his mind frame.
Yorem is known for his large scale statues that resemble the old plastic toys kids got in the 50’s. (think green army men) There are 4 of these at auction. Can you imagine this yard? lol.
This painting isn’t just an integral part of the film, it was painted by director Gus van Sant. This is a pretty cool piece of hollywood history for $1500.
Lastly, there are just tons of various awards from everything from MTV popcorn, to grammy’s to Harvards Hasty Pudding award.
