It was one for the books with the $157 million sale of Modigliani’s Nu Couché in the Impressionist & Modern Evening Sale, becoming the most expensive artwork auctioned in Sotheby’s history and leading off what would be a billion-dollar week.

- David Hockney’s large-scale painting Pacific Coast Highway and Santa Monica more than doubled the artist’s previous auction record set in 2016, realizing a remarkable $28,453,000.
- Mark Rothko 1903 – 1970 UNTITLED signed, dated 1969, brought in $18,856,500
- Kerry James Marshall’s “PAST TIMES” was estimated at $8-$12k, but brought in massive $21,114,500!
- Jackson Pollock’s iridescent drip painting, Number 32, which sold for $34.1 million.
