Maybe the third time will be the charm for Usher.
The “Yeah!” singer and his second wife, Grace Miguel, have called it quits after two years of marriage.
“After much thought and consideration we have mutually decided to separate as a couple,” the couple said in a joint statement to Us Weekly. “We remain deeply connected, loving friends who will continue supporting each other through the next phases of our lives. The enormous amount of love and respect that we have for each other will only increase as we move forward.”
The magazine reports that the couple separated a couple of months ago. Last summer, Usher was sued by three people — two women and one man — for sexual battery and fraud, among other claims, for concealing an alleged herpes diagnosis from them.
Despite having only wed in 2015, Usher, 36, and Miguel, 48, had been together for nearly a decade. They started dating in 2009, shortly after the singer split from his first wife, Tameka Foster, after – yes – two years of marriage.
News of the breakup comes a day after Usher revealed his latest tattoo, an esoteric design across the underside of his chin. Days before that, he posted a photo of him and his tattoo artist, Dr. Woo, along with the caption, “new era // new ink.”
Usher and Miguel had no children together, but the singer has two children from his marriage to Foster.
