New episodes of ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ were released on Sunday night as part of an ongoing battle between HBO and a hacker group calling itself ‘Mr. Smith.’
The latest salvo came as the broadcaster continues to defy ransom demands by the Internet blackmailers who seek ‘6-month salary in bitcoin’ or about $6million to $7.5million, according to The Wrap.
HBO was hit with a massive hack with Mr. Smith claiming to have obtained 1.5 terabytes (1500 gigabytes) of data in an attack it says took six-months to accomplish.
HBO said in a statement that it was not ‘going to participate’ in a game that helps the hackers generate ‘media attention’ following the leak, adding that this ‘incident has not deterred us from ensuring HBO continues to do what we do best.’
‘We are not in communication with the hacker and we’re not going to comment every time a new piece of information is released,’ HBO noted in the statement.
