Second time might be the charm for Cate Blanchett, who finally found a buyer for her historic estate in Hunters Hill, Australia. Though the broker, Ken Jacobs, declined to give a selling price, the home was always listed for $20 million.
Blanchett and her husband Andrew Upton have been trying to sell the home since 2015. They did find a buyer for it after only a month on the market, but that buyer, who was Chinese, later defaulted on the sale around the time that China started cracking down on its citizens buying foreign properties. Blanchett and Upton purchased the home in 2005 for $10 million, and poured $8 million into a three-year renovation project.
It should come as a surprise to absolutely no one that Blanchett’s home is the definition of taste.
