Just a reminder of shows coming out!
The TV landscape shifts constantly these days. Shows with 10 episode seasons, fall breaks, binge shows … it’s important to check in every now and again to make sure you’re aware of what’s around and where to find it.
And with that I bring you January premieres.
Sunday, January 1
8 p.m. — THE MICK — Fox – This is Kaitlin Olson’s (Always Sunny) new show and it’s getting plenty of publicity. Olson plays a hard-living, foul-mouthed, cigarette-smoking woman who moves to affluent Greenwich, CT to raise the spoiled kids of her wealthy sister.
? p.m. — Sherlock — PBS – It’s Sherlock, Sherlock.
Monday, January 2
8 p.m. – The Celebrity Apprentice — NBC – This is NBC’s most anticipated garbage. Enjoy it if you like it, but the new host is only slightly less gross than the last.
8 p.m. – Masterchef Celebrity Showdown – Fox – it is what it is.
Wednesday, January 4
9:01 p.m. — Star — Fox (Time Period Premiere, Actual Pilot Premiere is Wednesday December 14) – This is Fox’s big hope for mid season. Packed with names (Queen Latifah, Lenny Kravitz, Benjamin Bratt) it follows a trio of women form a musical group in Atlanta.
10 p.m. — It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia — FXX – This is just good, always.
10:30 p.m. — Man Seeking Woman — FXX – If you haven’t checked out previous seasons, consider doing so. This show is impossible to explain, mostly because they never explain it. Set in what might be another dimension, a man seeks love from woman, beast and automobile.
Thursday, January 5
Nashville (CMT, 9 p.m.)
Portlandia (IFC, 10 p.m.) – This is Fred and Carrie’s last season of the amazing show. The theme music is my ringtone. That’s how much I love it all.
Friday, January 6
One Day at a Time (Netflix)
Grimm (NBC, 8 p.m.)
Rosewood (Fox, 8 p.m.)
Sleepy Hollow (Fox, 9 p.m.)
Emerald City (NBC, 9 p.m.)
Tuesday, January 10
Taboo (FX, 10 p.m.) – Adventurer James Keziah Delaney builds his own shipping empire in the early 1800s. The hope is this will be one of those drama EVERYONE loves. So do what you want with that info.
Sunday, January 15
Homeland (Showtime, 9 p.m.)
Victoria (PBS, 9 p.m.) – The early life of Queen Victoria, from her accession to the throne at the tender age of 18 through to her courtship and marriage to Prince Albert. And it’s made in Britain. If this is the next Downton Abbey you’re gonna wish you got in on the ground floor.
The Young Pope (HBO, 9 p.m.) – The beginning of the pontificate of Lenny Belardo, alias Pius XIII, the first American Pope in history. It’s HBO, so .. maybe we’ll see nuns tits or something.
Thursday, January 19
Baskets (FX, 10 p.m.) – I had no interest in this till they started wisely jamming Louie Anderson as Baskets mom into the commercials. Now I have to see it.
Scandal (ABC, 9 p.m.)
That wraps up January! If anything changes I’ll let you know!
