Just before Christmas, Carrie Fisher suffered a heart attack on a flight from London to Los Angeles, and while she was hospitalized in critical condition, it was later announced that she had been stabilized and was doing better. Everyone expected her to pull through, but unfortunately, that didn’t end up being the case. Fisher passed away on Tuesday morning. She was 60 years old.
Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd, released a statement following her mother’s death, which was released via the family’s spokesman, Simon Halls. It read:
“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8.55 this morning. She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”
Such a terrible loss for the artistic community. RIP, Carrie.
