Since leaving One Direction last year, Zayn Malik has been trying to make a name for himself all by his lonesome. He released an amazing album (yes, it pains me to say it) and now… branching out into TV? Yup, that’s right. Zayn is now officially going to be a TV producer — he’s heading up a new series for NBC with industry stalwart Dick Wolf.
The premise of the show is simple: it’s about boy bands, which Zayn knows more than a little about. It’s called Boys and is being billed as a drama. My guess is that it won’t make it past Season 1 because honestly, does anyone give a shit about boy band drama? Especially people watching primetime TV? I think not.
“It’s exciting to be diving into this project with such passionate and prolific producers,” said Jennifer Salke, President of NBC Entertainment. “Zayn certainly brings an authentic point of view to this world where kids are catapulted into fame at a dizzying speed. On top of our excitement around the creative ideas being discussed, we have a lot of respect for the musical and digital ambitions behind the project.”
Blah blah. Look, I’m not saying people can’t have more than one interest or that you should limit yourself to following only one passion in life, but what’s with famous people being so desperate for fame that they have to try to get their finger in every pie, so to speak. Like, stick to the music, Zayn! You’re already rich! We get that you hated being in a boy band and all, but like… no. Enough is enough.
Will you watch Boys? Do you love yourself enough not to?
That’s good for him
congrat to him.
Big congrat to him.
