Y’all know I can only drink the Beyonce Kool-Aid intermittently and I didn’t think much of Lemonade (though I realize saying that is unfair — that album was not made for me so who cares if I didn’t get it?) but I have to say, when Bey and Kendrick Lamar teamed up for a performance of “Freedom” to open the BET Music Awards last night was pretty fucking powerful.
Again, I realize the irony in me calling the performance “empowering” as a white person, so I’ll just say this: it was a really amazing performance. Enjoy!
