It should come as no surprise that Kirk Cameron is a psycho. He’s a born-again evangelical Christian with puritanical views and zero brain power, so it’s not a shocker to hear that he thinks women are born to serve the men they marry. Of course, these aren’t his personal opinions — the Bible says women should “follow their husbands’ leads”, which… LOL, OK dumbass.
From The Christian Post:
“A lot of people don’t know that marriage comes with instructions,” Cameron explained. “And, we find them right there in God’s word.”
Cameron stated that husband’s are “to love their wives and not to tell their wives that they need to submit to them,” but added that wives should not only respect their husbands but also follow their lead.
“Wives are to honor and respect and follow their husband’s lead, not to tell their husband how he ought to be a better husband,” Cameron explained. “When each person gets their part right, regardless of how their spouse is treating them, there is hope for real change in their marriage.”
Although he didn’t cite it in the interview, Cameron may have been referring to the words from Colossians 3:18-19, which states: “Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.”
Wow, isn’t that special?
I know one of the most interesting and wonderful things about being alive is that we all have different thoughts and feelings and opinions, and generally I’m down for that, but when those thoughts and opinions are so destructive and oppressive, I’m kinda like, “Wut?” No one is submissive to anyone else, no one needs to follow anyone else’s lead, man or woman, and no one needs to be following a fucking book of fiction like it’s anything more than a collection of allegorical tales. The Bible thumpers who take these stories literally need a knock on the head. I’m all for people believing whatever it is they want as long as it’s not hurting anyone else, but considering how much religion DOES hurt other people (whether physically, mentally, emotionally, sexually, ANYTHING), I gotta call it out for the bullshit it is.
