Y’all should know by now that I love and adore Katy Perry. You also know that I’m not averse calling out bullshit when I see it, regardless of who’s behind it. I wouldn’t necessarily say that Katy Perry’s new Christmas campaign for H&M is bullshit, per se, but I also don’t really understand what I just watched and what the point of it is. There’s plenty of holiday cheer to go around, as well as elaborate costumes (Katy dresses up like a fairy, a toy soldier, and an elf in the video), but none of it really makes any sense.
Somewhere in the video, Katy is supposed to be promoting H&M’s holiday clothing collection, but views of the stuff that must actually be for sale in the store is few and far between. Instead, there’s just a ton of glitter and over-the-top gaudy glitz. I kind of love it, to be honest, but only if we’re all on the same page that it’s the most pointless thing ever (and that’s just fine).
Also, can we all agree that while Katy is a queen and hot as hell, that the big nose ring isn’t really for her? Just wanted to make sure. The Christmas song in the video is cute, though.
When I look at the picture here, she would probably make a better Joker than Jared Leto ;)
