Admittedly, I’m a bit torn about Rita Ora. I end up liking a lot of her songs (I hate Chris Brown, but “Body On Me” is disgustingly good radio pop and I hate myself for saying that) and I find her to be pretty delightful on The Voice, and yet… I often wonder what she actually does in a grand sense, if you get what I mean. There’s a major chunk of the superstar gene that’s missing with her, and yet she’s been doing tremendously well in the entertainment world regardless. It’s puzzling. Anyway, even Rita Ora isn’t endearing enough to pull off an Adele cover, which is, I suppose, why she tried to play it off as a joke.
Rita stopped by Capital FM this week, where she decided to cover Adele’s “Hello”… sort of. She only did a small portion of the song, and she performed it in her native Albanian (though some commenters have claimed it’s a “made up language” and that Rita said so herself, but I can’t find any evidence of that and I think that’s just people being racist assholes). She’s got an OK voice, but you don’t cover Adele. You just don’t.
What do you think? Do you “get” Rita Ora’s appeal?
She has a great body and uses it to screw everybody she feels can help her get ahead in the music business, from JayZ and Simon all the way down to C-list rappers
If I didn’t read this blog I wouldn’t know who she is
I don’t know about elsewhere, but in Spain she’s the image of apparel company Tezenis and she’s literally everywhere in Barcelona, where I live… I see her more than I see my own mum
