Lots of the former Disney child stars used to be BFF, which makes sense because they grew up together and spent endless amounts of time in one another’s company while shooting whatever shows they were on and doing promotion for them. Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez used to be close for a while, but it seems like their friendship has pretty much disappeared, if Demi’s new interview in Complex is anything to go by.
Asked if she and Selena are still friends, Demi answered with a short but to the point, “Nope.” Well, that’s that! But if you’re thinking they stopped being friends over Justin Bieber, you’re wrong.
“He’s actually a nice guy. I don’t really know him that well, but he seems to have grown up. He looks like he’s maturing. But, you know, when you’re young and you get older, you change and people change.
“You have things in common, and then all of a sudden, you don’t. It’s just a part of life.”
Maybe it wasn’t Justin that tore them apart, but something must have happened, because just a couple of years ago, Demi was saying how much she missed Selena and their friendship. Sure, things change, and maybe she just accepted that, but “nope” is a pretty contrite answer and makes me feel like there must be some level of bad blood there. Who knows!
Anyway, I’m sure Demi has plenty of friends these days, not that they’re any better – I mean, Iggy Azalea? Come on. Whatever, she looks great, so good for her on that front?
