Love is hard for all of us, but it’s REALLY hard for people in Hollywood, it seems. Glenn Close and husband (and biotech entrepreneur) David Shaw managed to make it nine years, but now their relationship is over and the pair have divorced. This was Glenn’s third marriage.
A spokesperson for Close confirmed the split to PEOPLE on Wednesday, and the decision to divorce is said to have been made amicably. Close, 68, and Shaw wed in 2006 in a small, private ceremony in Maine. The couple had resided in Scarborough, Maine.
Well, fair enough – at least it’s not messy. Glenn was single for about 20 years before marrying Shaw, and she’s always made it a point to talk publicly about the importance of her independence and how she never wanted to rely on a man because she considers them a completely different species. Something tells me she’ll be just fine as a badass single lady.
She’s just been announced to star in the revival of Sunset Boulevard in London, too – she’ll be playing Norma Desmond, which sounds amazing and I totally want to see it.
