Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have just made a shit ton more money after successfully suing the man responsible for leaking their engagement video. Chad Hurley, a YouTube bro who went on to found some site called MixBit, was accused of sneaking into AT&T Park back in 2013 on the night of Kimye’s engagement and recording/uploading the video of the couple’s engagement, despite also signing a nondisclosure agreement. Now he’s gotta pay up, to the tune of $440k.
From TMZ:
Kim and Kanye were furious, and their lawyer, Eric George, filed suit claiming Hurley was desperate to find a second act after 2 failed flops following his YouTube sale.
We’re told Hurley must pay the loot within the next few days, and then the lawsuit will be dismissed.
$400k is a fortune to most, but Hurley sold YouTube for $1.6 billion, so he’s not hurting.
I’m sure Kim and Kanye were really only upset about this since E! had the full rights to the evening. After all, if a Kardashian does something and it’s not captured on video, did it really happen? I think not. Sure, I think it’s wrong to invade people’s privacy, but given that Kim only has a “career” because she literally keeps nothing private, it’s hard to sympathize. Then again, if I’m going to be fair, it’s fine that she chooses not to keep things private, but Hurley taking this video without their permission robs them of personal agency, yada yada. Yes, that’s me trying to be fair to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.
$440k is not a “shit ton of money” to these 2 it’s like maybe $440 to you and me for them maybe even $44.00
