The last time Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt teamed up on screen, it was for Mr. & Mrs. Smith, the 2005 action/thriller that also happened to be the set on which they fell in love. Go figure. Now, 10 years later, they’ve reunited yet again in movie form for By The Sea, which will come out in November. The Jolie-directed movie has a new 90-second trailer that’s backed by a Harry Nilsson track and basically doesn’t tell us a single thing in terms of what this movie is all about.
Given how miserable they both seem throughout, I’m imagining this is a marriage drama of some kind, which… yawn. Lucky for us, IMDB has a bit of a synopsis. Although maybe it’s unlucky for us, because now it just seems twice as boring:
Set in France during the mid-1970s, Vanessa, a former dancer, and her husband Roland, an American writer, travel the country together. They seem to be growing apart, but when they linger in one quiet, seaside town they begin to draw close to some of its more vibrant inhabitants, such as a local bar/café-keeper and a hotel owner.
No thanks. Here’s the trailer!
Sounds like the couple is bored, just the way I wanna spend 2 hours. :(
No kidding, it looks depressing. I’m wondering if there is a twist of some kind…
