Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds were only married for a little less than three years (2008 to 2011), and they’ve both since moved on with different partners, had babies, yada yada. But for a while there, they were kind of an “It Couple” in Hollywood, and a lot of people just couldn’t understand why they broke up, for some reason. If you’re one of those people, you’re in luck! Scarlett has finally sorta kinda alluded to her relationship with Ryan, though not really directly or in any way that’ll tell you anything important.
From Parade:
“Acting is a very strange world to be co-existing in,” the Lucy star told the magazine. “It’s very volatile. There’s always going to be the more successful person. It’s related to rejection. Because actors, if they’re not having success, connect it directly to unpopularity — to the fact that nobody wants them.”
“[Marriage] takes a lot of work. It takes a man who’s not only confident in the love that you have for one another, but confident in what he has going on in his own career. He has to be in a field that’s completely different from yours,” she explained to Parade.
Well, duh. This is why most Hollywood marriages fail. Egos get in the way, jealousy springs up and it’s all a mess. This was never going to work out, but hey, that’s all right. They both seem to be doing just fine without each other.
