Well, this is a terrible story. Bobbi Kristina, the 22-year-old daughter of the late Whitney Houston and Bobbi Brown, was found unconscious in the bathtub of her Georgia home early Friday morning. She was rushed to a local hospital and is said to be recovering, but it’s an eerily scary (and sad) situation.
From The Telegraph:
Bobbi Kristina Brown, 22, was found by her husband and a friend at her home in Georgia, USA, yesterday morning. The incident took place just two weeks before the third anniversary of her mother’s death, who died in a bathtub at a Los Angeles hotel.
A spokeswoman for the Roswell Police Department in Georgia said Mrs Brown was given cardiopulmonary resuscitation until rescuers arrived and added that the incident remained under investigation.
Doctors have now stabilised her breathing and she has been transferred to the intensive care unit of North Fulton Hospital.
Oh man, how terrible. It may just be a strange coincidence, but part of me feels like the bathtub aspect of this is just too much like Whitney’s death to ignore, and makes me wonder if this wasn’t intentional. It does feel somewhat inappropriate to speculate on whether or not this was a suicide attempt (or perhaps just an unintentional drug overdose), but either way, I think it’s pretty clear that Bobbi Kristina needs some help that she’s just not getting.
TMZ actually reported that Bobbi Kristina was placed in a medically induced coma yesterday afternoon for swelling of the brain, and Bobby Brown and Tyler Perry (I know, don’t ask) are at her bedside, so she’s still in serious trouble.
The Daily Beast did a great piece that’s worth reading; it examines Bobbi Kristina’s life in the years following Whitney’s death (and even while Whitney was alive) and when you look at the whole picture, it’s a really sad one. The question is, can you bounce back from the kind of life she has had to live a healthy, “normal” one yourself? This seems to be something Bobbi Kristina is struggling with, and I really hope she’s okay.
