Lady Gaga, Forbes‘ 8th richest celeb under 30, has some strong opinions on the music industry, and she shared them in a recent Yahoo interview. She revealed that she writes about “90 percent” of her songs, and thinks everyone should follow suit. And if not…look out! Via Vibe:
If you’re not gonna write your own music you better be able to blow. Because if you can’t blow, there’s no reason to do the job. But then you think about artists that can’t really sing, that have songs written for them, and it’s like, well why are they artists?
Hee hee, she said “blow.” No but seriously, while I totally understand and respect her opinion, I can’t help but think of my dear Britney Spears, who doesn’t write her own music and can’t really sing live, but still delivers a helluva show. And I think there’s gotta be something said for performers. There are singers, musicians, and there are performers. Gaga happens to be all three, but I don’t think there’s anything terrible about not having the pipes if you can still put on a great performance.

Have you HEARD some of those songs “written” by songwriters currently? ? Of course you have, there’s no escaping them. A monkey with a keyboard and a working knowledge of how to punch the words “currently trending” into the Google. Says someone who has never written a song. But STILL
