Pardon the provocative headline but I couldn’t particularly think of a classier way to put this. Madonna‘s feature for the new issue of Interview magazine is a doozy – endless pics (which will appear later in this post) in which she wears pseud0-lightweight bondage gear and sexy lingerie and yes, shows us her breasts in their entirety for about the 8,000th time. It’s old hat, sure, but that’s Madonna and she’s not about to try something new and innovative like she would’ve done in the ’80s – she’s just going to keep selling us sex and trying to compete with younger pop stars (who aren’t half of what she is anyway, but she doesn’t seem to realise that). Oh and the best part? David Blaine does the interview.
I haven’t read the whole interview just yet, but I checked out a bit of it and Madonna revealed that – SURPRISE! – she’s done a whole lot of drugs in her day.
BLAINE: I just heard the song “Devil Prays” [from Madonna’s forthcoming album], and it’s fucking amazing. And it’s not like you were using drugs, but it’s all about drug use …
MADONNA: Well, no, it’s about how people take drugs to connect to God or to a higher level of consciousness. I keep saying, “Plugging into the matrix.” If you get high, you can do that, which is why a lot of people drop acid or do drugs, because they want to get closer to God. But there’s going to be a short circuit, and that’s the illusion of drugs, because they give you the illusion of getting closer to God, but ultimately they kill you. They destroy you. I mean, I tried everything once, but as soon as I was high, I spent my time drinking tons of water to get it out of my system. As soon as I was high, I was obsessed with flushing it out of me. [Blaine laughs] I was like, “Okay, I’m done now.”
BLAINE: Was that song written to anyone in particular?
MADONNA: No, just sharing my experiences that there are different ways to connect to a higher level of consciousness and that it’s the devil’s trick. It is the illusion.
Huh. No surprises there that Madonna enjoyed her fair share of illegal substances, but still writing songs about it? Eh. I dunno, it seems a bit old hat. Madonna has sorta fallen off her game since Ray of Light (and even that was a stretch) and that shit came out in ’98. There will never be anything that compares to Madonna in her hey day and I need her to stop.
Photos from the shoot below, but beware if you’re at work, as there are boobs involved:
She missed her opportunity to leave the stage with some dignity left 20 years ago. Now she’s just trying way to hard (without success) to stay relevant and young. Shame, she was great in the 80s.
Bless her heart, she’s trying so hard to be/stay provocative. The only pole this lady should be dancing on is the safety bar in a bathtub. Pack it up, Madge.
Madonna brought new meaning to the word “skank” when she was young and she still thinks she’s young and desirable. God bless that deluded ho!
Gotta love the internet snark losers who think their useless comments are important. “Without success”? – idiot – The woman tops herself as the highest solo touring artist pretty much whenever she tours. You know, stadiums, with actual human beings filling up the seats. You can’t fake that like you can album sales or radio requests.
These ageist comments. Holy shit. No wonder women feel their worth plummets as they age. “You were better when you were young. You’re of no use to us now. You’re too old to be sexy anymore. Washed-up skank. GET OUT OF THE WAY, AND STAY OUT OF THE WAY.”
What the hell.
Or sell your talent, not your azz. Because there are a crapload of 18 year olds selling their azzes and if that’s all you have to fall back on… I wish you well with that. Madonna is a dancer who knows how to market herself. Michael Stipe called her an accountant when it comes to her as an artist and I think that sums it up beautifully.
Cracking pair of tits for her age……
