For better or worse, Ben Affleck is our new Batman. It’s a very bizarre casting choice that I don’t think any of us will ever fully understand, so I think the best we can do is bite our tongues and move on. Besides, maybe we’re giving Ben too hard of a time. After all, he and Batman are a lot alike – they’ve got that whole smoldering anger thing in common!
From The Sunday Times:
“For me, anger is so deeply buried and contained,” Affleck, 42, told the paper, “that when it does kind of come out, it comes out in stronger bursts.”
“I tend to be respectful, polite, get along, put up with, put up with, put up with… Then, when it finally emerges, it’s not something I have a ton of control over.”
Well… that’s… good? And vaguely terrifying, though Ben promises that he doesn’t actually go into “Wolverine berserker mode”, which I guess is somewhat comforting.
“I should sit down and say, ‘Listen, I just want to let you know what happened there wasn’t okay,’ instead of going, let it go, let it go, let it go … ‘Ah, that’s not a big deal,’ until finally you just pop!”
But isn’t everyone like that? Most people don’t have a violent temper unless you push their buttons time and time and time again and then they just have to speak up. But there’s a difference between throwing a temper tantrum and going nutso, so let’s hope he’s on the lower end of the spectrum.
Anyhow, there you go. Ben Affleck and Batman = one in the same.
