Katy Perry and John Mayer‘s relationship ran its course earlier this year, and while Katy is currently touring Prism, the album of songs all about how sprung she was off John’s ~energy~ and ~aura~, turns out her next one might be all about where things went wrong. Not all that surprising, considering that’s what musicians do and all…
From Cosmopolitan:
“There’s no bad blood. But I’m sure there will be inspired songs.”
Well, that’s that, then? I mean, I’m sure John will write (or has already written) plenty of songs about Katy, so it’s pretty natural, even if the split really was amicable. It was still an experience in her life, so it makes sense to write about it. I guess no more ‘Birthday’ on the next album though, eh?
Oh, also, John really loves when his exes write songs about him, apparently. Here’s what he told TMZ on Monday (via MTV):
“I have super strength for gang-ups, I’m fine,” Mayer told the site when asked if he was bothered by the songs his former loves write about him. “That’s what you’re supposed to do, man, you’re supposed to write songs. You’re just not supposed to tell everybody you’re doing it.”
Out on a date acting as a third wheel with some friends, Mayer laughed when the paparazzo broke the news that Perry is reportedly working on a new song about John. “I actually want everybody’s song to go #1,” he said. “I purposely stopped writing hits to give other people a chance to have #1 songs.”
LOL, yeah, okay. How many #1s has he actually had, anyway? I bet I can count them all on one hand with fingers left over. Glad to see he’s back to being his usual toolbox self.
Anyway, here’s some pics of Katy looking hot on the global covers of Cosmo, just for fun:
