Katy Perry is out on the road killing it with her Prismatic World Tour at the moment, and while fans are loving it and Katy is set to rake in millions from the dates, there’s one person out there who isn’t so thrilled with her success: Lady Gaga. Poor Mother Monster has been sipping on the haterade, apparently, and tweeted out a catty remark basically implying that Katy had copied off her looks with some of her own stage props.
It looks like green hair and mechanical horses are the thing now ????
— Lady Gaga (@ladygaga) May 8, 2014
Yes, because Gaga has a copyright on green hair and anyone else who has it is copying off her. Same with horses – she’s the first and only person to ever use a horse in her act (which – oh wait, she didn’t even use it in an act, she rode it to an awards show), so how DARE you copy!
Some people are so pressed. Gaga needs to chill out and maybe reassess reality a bit. We’re sorry ARTPOP flopped, girl, but it’s not that serious.
I know that artists openly admit that they get inspiration from other singers/entertainers/painters/etc, but there is a fine line between inspiration, and a thinly veiled attempt to “steal” ideas from someone else.
This is why there are so many lawsuits about music tracks; lyrics, beats, and the music itself are all subject to lawsuits, if the similarities prove copyright infringement.
Gags hit it from the start, while Katy has had a lesser, though still prominent, presence. Katy’s just copying success, not really coming up with her own stage idea with this one.
The way Gaga copied Madonna. Turnabout is fair play. :P
Oh, absolutely. I’m just saying that these artists and performers need to develop their own style. I miss the days of Eric Clapton concerts when he walked out on stage in jeans, a sweater, and sneakers. Both girls have talent; and it would be nice to see them focus on honing, or even expanding their talent, rather than Keeping Up With The Jones’. These two have become so outrageous in appearance that it detracts from what they claim they’re trying to promote: their MUSIC.
Sorry but that Eric Clapton comparison is so misguided. They don’t play the same kind of musicm they’re not the same kind of act. You’d be better off comparing Lady Gaga or Katy Perry’s approach to live music by mentioning The Beatles, who also wore costumes onstage. Nowadays there’s still musicians who will play in their own clothes, but obvs not big pop acts because their gigs are about glitz and lights and acting as much as they are about music. Also, the times have changed and even musicians who wear their own clothes have a much more ellaborate mis-en-scene than Clapton used to have back in the day.
Katy Perry told a news outlet that she was going to dye her hair slime green. Gaga did it like, two weeks after Katy made that public statement. So basically, Gaga stole Katy’s idea got to do it first.
I effing hate Lady Gaga. Still waiting patiently for her to disappear into obscurity.
I have green hair. Oh no. Whatever am I going to do?
gaga is always so deperate for attention. it´s sad really. get over girl katy is winning right now get a grip
GaGa reminds me of the kid who felt rejected that took a gun to school one day…
Sounds like sour grapes to me. Gaga seems so insecure.
ARTFLOP.
It’s Katy Perry and Miley-Cyrus, not gaga or Madonna who are today’s twin top-media hounds; I hope their fifteen minutes is up soon Neither has the staying-power of Madonna… let’s hope; pray their fifteen minutes is up soon and they disappear to one of their multi million-dollar off-shore mansion retreats!Ambulance-chasers who need to work at their professed art of singing-songwriting rather than devising the next creative ‘nipple-slips’ and crotch-thrusts….. aye me.. KimP.
Dude, Foo Fighters wear their own clothes! Enough said.
