Selena Gomez recently canceled her tour, citing the need to, “spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be.” Since then, she’s been chilling out and breaking up fan fights on her Instagram account, like you do.
But sources close to the singer say the real reason she canceled her tour is because of lupus. Yeah, apparently Selena Gomez is battling lupus. From Huffington Post:
Sources told Popdust that the 21-year-old singer was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease a couple of years ago, and suffered multiple “flares” recently, that cause facial swelling, extreme fatigue, headaches and joint pain.
“Selena has been going full throttle the past few years and her Lupus is really catching up with her right now,” a source told the website. “She knows that she needs to take some time to address the disease and look after herself better if she wants to live a full and healthy life.”
A rep for the singer told the Huffington Post “no comment” when asked if Gomez was suffering from the disease.

She is not having a breakdown. She wants to be the healthiest that she can be and this means taking a little break. But she is fine. She is OK.
I don’t know anything about lupus other than what I’ve heard about it on House (not much), so I have no idea how much truth could be behind these rumors. Anyone who knows more about the disease than I do want to weigh in?
I have it. It is an autoimmune disease. And you can get really tired and rundown doing normal activities. It is not curable. If she does have it, she’s doing the right thing by taking a break. Lupus does not discriminate on age; young or old, it will wear you down.
