Martin Scorsese is a legend, but that doesn’t mean he still can’t be heckled. While hosting a screening for his new film, The Wolf of Wall Street, for some Academy voters at the Samuel Goldwyn Theatre in Los Angeles earlier this week, some people weren’t too happy with the message of the movie and apparently he was “verbally attacked”.
Hope Holiday, who was in The Apartment, took to Facebook to share what happened at the event:
last night was torture at the Academy–“The Wolf Of Wall Street”—three hours of torture–same disgusting crap over and over again—after the film they had a discussion which a lot of us did not stay for–the elevator doors opened and Leonardo D. Martin S. and a few others got out then a screen writer ran over to them and started screaming–shame on you –disgusting–
I’m not sure why she’s written that as if she’s typing in morse code, but okay.
Look, I don’t particularly have any desire to see The Wolf of Wall Street, but how are you going to get mad at a director for making a film about it? Is anyone mad at Tony Kaye for making American History X? I mean, that’s just one example, obviously, but it seems pretty silly to me. Also, these are old, grown ass men. Get it together, people.
Have any of you seen the movie? Are you going to?
I’m sure I’ll see it eventually. American History X was such a good movie
