Peter Capaldi is going to be the new Doctor on Doctor Who, which I personally think is an interesting and potentially great casting choice – perhaps the first good decision Steven Moffat has made in the history of the show (I really hate him). A lot of people were pretty concerned about the whole “Capaldi is kind of an old dude” angle, but Moffat has said that he acts like the youngest doctor yet, and here’s what Capaldi himself had to say to PA about it:
“Well, The Doctor is thousands of years old, they’ve never actually been able to find an actor old enough to play him.”
“I’m like, 1,995 years too young for the part really. So no, I think he’s going to be quite happy to look his age at last.”
Ha! Now, how many of you watch Doctor Who? I always assume it’s as much of a thing over here in the US, though I know that’s not quite the case. For those of you who do watch, what do you think of Capaldi?
It took me AGES to warm up to Matt Smith, and unfortunately I think he’s been cursed – as Capaldi will be – with terrible showrunning from Moffat, who’s hell-bent on ruining this series and running it into the ground, but I dunno, maybe he can make something good of it. Or maybe I can just pop my DVDs of the Russell Davies years in for the 500th time and remember simpler days.
