This is Charlize Theron in the upcoming film adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s 2009 novel, Dark Places. Charlize plays Libby Davis whose life is pretty much destroyed by the fact that her brother supposedly killed her entire family years before. It’s a bit weird, as is Flynn’s MO, but will probably be pretty good.
Here’s the thing: judging from this picture, they’ve got Charlize – who yes, is beautiful and glamorous and all those fancy things – look rather plain and homely. If you know the Academy, then you know this might just be the recipe for another Oscar! She got one for Monster. Can she do it again?
Dark Places also stars Chloe Moretz, Christina Hendricks and Nicholas Hoult. Have any of you read the book?
I am excited to see this movie, as I have read the novel, and it is fantastic. I’m thrilled that Charlize Theron was selected to play the lead. She is at he’d beat when playing against type. This ought to be a dynamite production
Her best! Dang you, auto correct!
Are you trying to say that the only way Charlize can win an award is to be “plain and homely” or the opposite of glamourous? Because that’s how it’s coming across.
If that’s what you truly meant well this is a sad day for women.
Oh Christ.
