Megan Fox was recently cast as April O’Neil for what is surely to be Michael Bay‘s craptacular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. But Peter Laird, co-creator of TMNT isn’t saying “Cowabunga!”
As he wrote on his blog:
My only exposure to Megan Fox as an actress is through her role in two Transformers movies and the wretched (but happily forgettable) Jennifer’s Body. It may not be fair to judge her range of acting skills just from those three movies, but I think it is safe to say that there are probably hundreds of better choices for the role of April O’Neil. Of course, her name has promotional value, and maybe that’s what they want. Who knows? I can’t get myself too worked up about it.
I don’t really care about Megan Fox but I’m sure she’ll be able to handle the complexities of playing a news reporter who makes friends with large turtles just fine. Unrelated: I am always surprised when I realize that Megan Fox is only 26. I don’t know what it is, but she seems so much older to me.
If you could choose, who would you cast as April O’Neil?
I can see Rachel Mcadams in this role or maybe Kristen Stewart
Kristen Stewart? Really? I’m not sure who is worse – Megan or Kristen.
Yes, seriously! I agree with you. Kristen Stewart? Ick!
Ana Kendrick! She would be MUCH better than Megan Fox. I’m an 80’s baby, TMNT was a big part of my childhood. They may want to at least consider an actress that doesn’t automatically make you think of crappy acting….April O’Neil was not a ‘hot’ character!
Crappy acting you say?
Like anyone who “acted” in Twilight should be considered above crappy acting. Just saying….
Emma Stone.
I think they should have just about killed themselves trying to get Emma Stone for the part! Baasheepa, you’re so spot on! But BreakingJen, Ana Kendrick would be amazing, too, so she’d be an excellent 2nd choice, and infinitiely preferable to Megan Fox. That said, I’m not a Megan Fox hater, I just don’t see her as right for April O’Neil by any stretch of the imagination.
Yes to Anna Kendrick and Emma Stone! I also think Kirsten Dunst would have been a nice pick.
meh- Courtney Stodden
Allison Hannigan
Well, I live in LA so Megan pretty much looks just as plastic as all the actual TV reports.
That being said, if it were my choice I’d go with Rachel McAdams, Sarah Michelle Gellar (she was the April voice in the animated movie a few years ago) or Emily Blunt.
This movie will not be good because the person making this film is not interested in making a good film, he does not have to and has not for a long time. Michael Bay makes reproduction cinema of already existing stories or movies when he’s feeling very motivated, he lacks the ability to hire good writers, actors and typically concentrates on only two aspects, one is marketing and the second is visual effects. When transformers came out I was dissapointed for transformer fans even though I am not one, I was however a teenage mutant ninja turtle fan and now am truly saddened that something I cherished as a youngster will have the touch of Michael Bay. I don’t care if Megan Fox will be a good April Oneil, I care if she will be the best. Answer that for yourself. I’m sorry for any others that read the comic as kids.
Love TMNT, but really who cares what the creator thinks of who is cast as April. I mean cmon, the original O’Neill in TMNT was terrible…did he approve of her?
Oh my god, seriously? ANOTHER TMNT movie? I have been watching the recent Nickelodeon reboot of the series (way better then anything before it) and now a movie or some kind of attempt to bring it back to the big screen sounds terrible. Especially in Michael Bay’s hands. I really hope this never comes to fruition.
Hello Mrs.Megan Fox,how are you doing today Love?cheers to you Miss/Ms.
