While playing with her lovely dog Phoebe in the park on Monday, Emma Bunton’s precious pet Phoebe ran off and was presumably either lost or stolen. Bunton reached out via Twitter (in addition to notifying local authorities, of course) to spread the word and offer up a big reward for the pup’s return and while many were searching, the end result was tragic.
From The Daily Mail (via The Independent):
Former police officer Tom Watkins, who was enlisted to help find the missing dog, said he thought the accident occurred on Monday shortly after the dog went missing.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, he said: “‘That is where she was found, lying between the tracks. It is very sad but at least now the family have closure. Network Rail was contacted and a worker went on to the track and retrieved the body.
‘She must have slipped under the fence and been hit by a train. I believe the accident happened on Monday, shortly after she went missing.’
He added: “Phoebe is now with her owners.”
Emma herself expressed her grief via Twitter after hearing the news, writing:
To all the amazing people who supported us at this horrible time Our precious phoebe has been found and its terrible news, we are devastated

Losing a pet is horrendous – we only got Milo at Christmas and I’m already obsessed with him and missed him like mad when I was away for a few days. I hate to say it, but this is why it’s important to keep your dog on its leash unless it’s in an enclosed space. Poor Phoebe! :(
This is a very sad story and my heart breaks for her because I know our pets are like our children !!! Sometimes I feel like I gave birth to my animals I am sickly obsessed with them and our whole lives revolve around taking care of them !!! They really are a gift from god !!!!! I hope she goes out and adopts another dog that is praying for a forever home !!!! It will forever be grateful and it will bring her plenty of joy :) R.I.P. phoebe !!!!!
This is so sad. Animals are the true symbols of devotion and love. RIP Phoebe and blessings to Emma.
:(
Don’t hate to say it, please, people need to keep their beloved pets save on a leash when not in a fenced in area. Accidents happen fast and the heart breaks easy when you lose them.
OMG my heart breaks for her! We have two Siamese cats Fuzz and Samantha and they are our babies! My husband says he has three pampered pussies! :)
just lost my little dog so know how she feels it is heartbreaking. my sympathies go out to her.
