Man, I love Pink. She’s one of those pop stars that’s completely low key, seemingly down-to-earth and effortlessly cool in the face of so many contrived wannabes. Oh, and she makes some pretty solid pop tunes that are emotionally raw, quirky and sometimes downright funny. Bottom line: Pink is great and always will be.
In a new interview with Redbook, the singer discussed her unconventional path to stardom, as well as her less than mainstream looks, which she’s refused to let hold her back regardless of what industry standards might say:
“A ‘girl like me’ is someone who doesn’t rest on her looks, who has had people tell me from day one, ‘You’re never going to get magazine covers because you are not pretty enough.’ I’m totally comfortable with that.
“I know my strong points: I work hard, I have talent, I’m funny and I’m a good person. Beautiful has never been my goal,” she says. “Joy is my goal – to feel healthy and strong and powerful and useful and engaged and intelligent and in love. It’s about joy. And there’s such joy now.”
Aw, but Pink, you are beautiful – even more so because you don’t care about it (well, no more than any woman, I’m sure). Oh, and your baby is really, really adorable.
Love Pink! And she’s the epitome of beauty if you ask me!
If she doesn’t care about being beautiful, why is she repping for a make up company?
She probably doesn’t. I’m sure she didn’t approach Cover Girl to be their spokesperson…. they are changing what their image is, and someone like Pink, who is edgy, beautiful, creative – totally fits what they are now looking for, and therefore, they probably approached HER. I would have, if I were them.
I love that Cover Girl has used Pink, Ellen Degenras and Queen Latifa as models, but the animal testing they still do on a regular basis is disgusting. I do not use Cover Girl products. I ask others to boycott them as well, and to ask cosmetic companies to stop this unnecessary cruelty.
Ugh. I hate “the industry standard” of beautiful. The world is full of beautiful women who would never meet the industry standard of beautiful, and they’re all the better for it.
Although I’ve nailed my share of ’em, I don’t normally go for the short squatty kind like Pink. Something about her is very unappealing. I don’t begrudge her brilliant management of her career and never falling out of the limelight..
I wish more women thought like her !!! She has a beautiful refreshing out look on life and we all should think that way !!! It’s very healthy for our souls to be so accepting of our selves !!!! I think she is absolutely beautiful and I’m sure she is a wonderful mother :) very lucky child !!!!
