So Forbes compiled this list, and it involves a lot of ratio things and math (both of which I am terrible with), so I’m going to leave the computing to you, but here’s 2012’s Most Overpaid Actors list, courtesy of Forbes. According to Forbes, this is how it all works:
Hollywood pays its biggest stars millions of dollar per film. Some are worth the money. Based on their last three projects, these 10 stars are not. We used data gathered from our Celebrity 100 research and Box Office Mojo to calculate how much, on average, each star’s last three films earned at the box office per dollar of pay. Think of it like a star return on investment number.
Keeping that in mind, here’s the top ten:
Eddie Murphy – $2.30 : $1
Katherine Heigl – $3.40 : $1
Reese Witherspoon – $3.90 : $1
Sandra Bullock – $5 : $1
Jack Black – $5.20 : $1
Nicolas Cage – $6 : $1
Adam Sandler – $6.30 : $1
Denzel Washington – $6.30 : $1
Ben Stiller – $6.50 : $1
Sarah Jessica Parker – $7 : $1
Math aside, I can agree with pretty much everyone on this list. They’re either past their prime as far as popularity goes, or they never were that good to begin with. Come on. Sarah Jessica Parker? I don’t get it. How is this chick getting all these roles anyway? And Adam Sandler? God love him, his last twelve movies weren’t any good.
Any on the list that happen to surprise you?
Nicholas Cage makes up for it with excellent internet memes, so he is forgiven!
All of them on the list and those not on the list. I wish I was one of them.
Denzel was surprising. His name doesn’t really belong on a list with any of these people, ever.
sandy. love her. every movie. every time.
I was surprised about Reese – I don’t think she’s past her prime yet.
Denzel Washington should not be on this list. His last movie Flight was amazing. He’s won an Oscar!!!
Denzel Washington= no!
He needs to be replaced with George clooney.
