And I say it “kicks crack,” because I’m not all that sure I can write “ass” up there in the headline, for all the world (including my advertisers and your boss) to see. So it remains, “kicks crack,” which, the more I type, becomes more and more attractive to my ever-growing book of nonsense phrases.
Anyway, if you’re reading this, that means you’re probably all interested in what was in the Beastie Boys’ Adam Yauch‘s final will and testament, and that’s a good thing. Because even in death, Adam Yauch did one of the coolest things ever—he banned his music from ever being in any kind of advertising whatsoever. From the will itself:
“… Notwithstanding anything to the contrary, in no event may my image or name or any music or any artistic property created by me be used for advertising purposes.”
And you might wonder, “Gee, Adam, why’d you go and do something like that?” and it’s really because he just doesn’t want his music and art being used for any kind of corporate gain whatsoever. Which is actually pretty awesome, when you get right down to it.
Adam, if you remember, passed away in May after battling cancer.
i’ll say it, that kicks ass……..we agree on this
