From Radar Online:
Whitney Houston failed a routine medical check two weeks before she was found dead in a hotel bathtub, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned. The legendary pop singer had sought a facelift to be performed by a Beverly Hills, Calif., plastic surgeon, but Dr. Marc Mani, a board certified plastic surgeon, refused to perform the procedure on Houston after she didn’t pass the medical clearance exam that tests a patient’s heart, lung and liver, according to a source.
[Mani says] “As a plastic surgeon who treats a lot of celebrities you have to be very strict about medical clearance. Medical clearance includes a very thorough battery of tests including heart tests, lung tests, liver tests and other laboratory tests. These situations make you aware of the need for a wake up call to many physicians who are over-prescribing medications to celebrities to keep them on board. That shouldn’t be the standard. In the years past, I have cancelled surgeries based on medical clearance both for celebrities and other patients. I feel very strongly about celebrities’ being overindulged by physicians, I treat a lot of them and care for them.”
Guess he figured she might not survive the anesthesia. Want to hear some other pretty disturbing things? As surprised as some of you might have been, Whitney was battling addiction hardcore in the weeks leading up to her ‘untimely’ death, so much so that Clive Davis offered to pay for a stay in rehab. Clive Davis. Thing is, though, Whitney refused:
“Bobbi Kristina, Clive Davis, and members of Whitney’s closest advisers were urging her to go back to rehab because people close to her saw her downward spiral into drugs and alcohol,” an insider tells RadarOnline.com exclusively. “It was extremely hard for Clive in particular to see Whitney under the influence again. He was absolutely powerless to stop her. Clive and Whitney had a very close relationship, but her addiction to drugs and alcohol did a lot of damage to that.”
The problem was said to be so out of hand that Davis offered to foot the entire bill as long as she stayed in the program. Sources close to Whitney and her family say that the last weeks of her life consisted of nothing but booze, pills, and cocaine:
“The last three months of Whitney’s life were truly tragic,” the insider said. “Whitney got buck-wild,” the onlooker revealed. “She drank cognac and champagne and seemed completely out of it from the moment she arrived [at the Playhouse nightclub] until the moment she left, at 2:30 a.m. PST. ”
Weeks later, she continued the party at the Beverly Wilshire, a luxury hotel in Beverly Hills. “Whitney was in a lounge chair drinking pina coladas all afternoon,” [said another eyewitness]. “Once in a while, she would get on her cell phone and start screaming at someone. She seemed almost manic at moments and practically unconscious the next.”
That erratic behavior continued up until her death; according to CNN anchor Don Lemon, Houston was spotted doing somersaults in the pool in the days before her death whilst drinking alcohol, from as early in the morning as 10am.
OK, so she was, apparently, completely out of her mind on drugs and alcohol. Does that surprise anyone? Because it shouldn’t. Does it make it any less sad? No, it absolutely doesn’t. What a sickening situation – from all sides.
While Whitney was a great talent the simple fact is that she was a drug addled drunk. All of these after life accolades are ridiculous in my opinion. She took what could have been an amazing life and turned herself into a disheveled, shambling, hot mess. What is so great about that?
When the toxicology report comes back as an overdose will everyone still remember her so fondly?
AMEN!
“Ironweed” can’t believe it!
We won’t be told the truth. I guarantee you that.
