In an appropriately-timed new interview release, Lea Michele talks to NY Mag about being cast opposite Ashton Kutcher in their upcoming flick, New Year’s Day, and it’s as cheesetastic and self-praising as you can possibly imagine. Here’s the best of the quotes!
Lea Michele’s initial reaction to being cast with THE, LIKE, HOTTEST GUY EVER, Ashton:
“You know, this guy’s like, the hottest guy, and then when they called and said that Ashton was doing it [the role], I was really freaked out. I thought I should have picked someone else and said, ‘You have to use this person!’ so I wouldn’t have been nervous. But I’m so glad, because he challenged me, and it was a really great pairing, I think.”
And Lea on being, DUH, the no-brainer choice to fill her role:
“I think I was one of the first people cast.”
Oh, and on those pesky Eponine Les Miserables casting rumors:
“How embarrassing if I don’t get it! … I was just talking to my publicist yesterday that it didn’t used to be like this in the business: I’ve been up for a lot of movies before that I really wanted to get, but now, people know a lot more than they used to and it’s all out there. … I mean, yeah, it’s super cool that you’re in consideration, but it’s also a really private thing, and then if you don’t get it … but I’m happy to be considered, and I’m happy to be in the realm of the other girls who are being considered because that’s the coolest thing for me. When I heard the other people they were considering, I was like, ‘Wow, this is awesome.’ I became like, a fan dork girl.”
OK, so it’s not as bad as it sounds. And to girlfriend’s credit, she probably would deserve the role of Eponine. But this Ashton “out of her league” thing that she keeps peddling? The “hottest guy ever” business? Girl just needs to keep those shenanigans to herself, because she’s not doing herself any favors by letting the world know that she’d completely suck the lint from between Ashton’s toes just to be photographed next to him outside of a movie premiere obligation, you feel me?
I think maybe she meant his character is supposed to be the hottest guy?
Who is playing Cosette? Usually she’s the one people care about. Eponine can be a fabulous tragic character one feels for, but very few Les Mis productions portray her that way.
That’s so true!! I mentioned it in a previous post about the play. Why is everyone auditioning to be Eponine? She one of the horrible Thénardier girls! Cosette’s the sweet girl and main character. I don’t get it…
wow i know that you hate her and always have a biased opinion about her trying to see lea michele on a negative light in everything she does and say, but really she was happy to be on this movie and was friend with her costar.
so much drama for nothing.
This little twit is just annoying …be gone!!!
