In a word? I’m thinking “yes” sums it up rather nicely. Not saying that it’d be inappropriate or anything, as they find a reason to make a movie about every damned thing these days including, but not limited to, snake infestations on closed air crafts, but I think that Amy’s ashes have barely settled to wherever they’d been sprinkled and she’s still just barely at rest. I mean, give the girl a chance, jeez.
Now Fox News states that there’s rumblings about a film in the making, and people are already speculating who’d do an Amy Winehouse role justice:
Winehouse fan Lady Gaga has already been linked to the role, after an insider told The Daily Star that “Gaga’s been itching to make the transition from music into movies and sees this as the ideal role to launch her film career.”
Gaga may have the looks and the voice, but Lindsay Lohan knows better than anyone what it’s like to NOT want to go to rehab. Taylor Momsen has the “pretty reckless” behavior down pat … but Lea Michele kind of looks like Winehouse if you squint really hard.
Amy Winehouse – whether you love her or hate her – is definitely a modern legend, and to rush into producing a biopic based on her final years is just cheapening both who she was and the magical, myriad talents that she had. This thing needs to get some time and perspective before it blows up. I’m not going to sit here and try to convince you that Amy Winehouse was the be-all, end-all of current innovation, because that’s totally based on interpretation and personal taste, but let’s just give this a break for awhile, now, huh? Would that be OK with everyone?
Amen to that… some things need to remain sacred…
Wouldn’t her parents have to approve such a project? Hope they have decency and class….
A year of mourning at least…
